Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can we purchase our own materials?

A. Yes, as long as they are on the job site on a timely basis (within reason).

 

Q. Can we use our own subs?

A. Yes, we will work with your subcontractors

 

Q. Who will obtain building permits?

A. If a job requires a permit(s) we will work with the client on a job by job basis. 

 

Q. Can we work with your company (Fancy Schmancy Renovations) to save labor costs?  For example, can we gut our own kitchen cabinets and countertops and/or do our own electrical work?

A. Yes, yes, and yes.  We try to work with our clients and work within their budget.

 

Q. Do you smoke on the jobsite and/or play loud music?

A.  No, No….a thousand times No.

 

Q. Do you take credit cards?

A. We’re sorry, but at this time we do not accept credit card payments.

 

Q. Do you require large deposits?

A. No, large deposits are never required.  If materials are being special ordered, then we may require a small deposit.

 

Q. Do you charge for estimates?

A. No, although if your project is large or complex we may only bid a part of it.

 

Q. Have you had problems with customers in the past?

A. Yes, after 27 years in business and thousands of clients.  Although only a very small percentage of our jobs ever become problematic.  If a concern arises, we are proactive in dealing with it.

 

Q. What are your specialties in the building trade?

A. We have experience in both major and minor renovations.  They include kitchen remodeling, bathroom makeovers, door and window installations, decorative moldings (i.e.; crown molding, pilasters, pediments), decks, flooring, wood siding, electrical work, plumbing, sheetrock, etc.  We don’t do much with roofing, masonry, heating & cooling, although we do have subcontractors that are in these trades. 

 

Q. Is Mr. Schmancy (A.K.A. Brian) on the jobsite at all times or is he just in sales?

A. Yes, he is on the site at all times unless he is picking up materials for the job.

 

Q. Will you help us design our project?

A. Yes.  We have a lot of experience with design.  Although if architectural work is required we would refer you to an architect or a structural engineer.
